My figure and ground project was inspired by Jean-Michael Basquiat. I was inspired by Basquiat because my mother introduced me to him through a documentary. I was very attracted to his artwork because he incorporated many abstract figures in his work. His faces in his artwork is something I have always found interesting. This is why I felt it was important to incorporate faces in my artwork.
